Real Food Chicken Nuggets (GAPS/WAPF-Friendly)
Ingredients:
1 lb ground chicken
1 egg (optional for binding)
½ cup almond flour (or coconut flour for nut-free)
½ tsp sea salt
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
¼ tsp paprika
¼ tsp black pepper
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375°F.
In a bowl, combine all ingredients. Mix well.
Shape into small nugget-sized pieces using damp hands or a spoon.
Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and cooked through.
Optional for crispiness:
Lightly pan-fry the nuggets in coconut oil for 2 minutes per side before baking.
Toddler Tip: Make them fun-sized for little fingers, or shape them into hearts, stars, or animal shapes if you’re feeling creative!
Loisa’s Sazon Sweet Potato Fries
Ingredients:
1–2 sweet potatoes
1–2 tablespoons coconut oil or olive oil
Sprinkle of Loisa’s Sazon seasoning blend
(or a mix of Organic Achiote, Organic Cumin, Organic Coriander, Organic Garlic, Organic Oregano, Organic Black Pepper)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375°F (use the same as nuggets!).
Peel and slice sweet potatoes into fry shapes.
Toss in a bowl with oil and season well with Louisa’s Sazon.
Spread out on a baking sheet in a single layer.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway, until tender and slightly crisp.
Mama Tip: If your little one prefers soft textures, pull the fries out earlier. If they love a little crunch, leave them in an extra 5 minutes or broil briefly.
Creamy Avocado Yogurt Dip
Ingredients:
½ ripe avocado
2 tablespoons full-fat yogurt or sour cream
Tiny squeeze of lemon (optional)
Pinch of sea salt (skip if under 1 year)
Optional Add-ins:
Dash of garlic or onion powder
Tiny bit of mashed banana (for a sweet version - I added a quarter of a banana)
Fresh herbs like dill or parsley
Instructions:
Mash the avocado until smooth.
Stir in the yogurt or sour cream.
Add optional seasonings and mix until creamy.
Why we love it:
It’s full of healthy fats for brain development, probiotics for digestion, and it makes dipping more fun (especially for picky toddlers).
Why This Meal Supports Toddler Development
This isn’t just about what’s not in the food (no refined oils, no fillers, no weird additives).
It’s about what’s in it — and how every bite supports real growth and development.
For Brain + Focus:
Choline from the egg and chicken
DHA precursors from avocado
Fat-soluble vitamins from the butter/ghee or coconut oil
For Immunity + Digestion:
Bone-supporting minerals from almond flour and sweet potatoes
Probiotics in yogurt or sour cream
Anti-inflammatory spices like paprika and garlic
For Energy + Growth:
Clean protein from pasture-raised chicken
Complex carbs from sweet potatoes
Healthy fats to keep blood sugar steady
This combo supports attention span, mood stability, gut health, immune strength, and healthy growth — in one toddler-sized plate.
Tips for Picky Eaters
Let your toddler dip the nuggets and fries in the avocado yogurt themselves — self-directed dipping is often more successful than spoon feeding.
Serve everything separately — some toddlers do better with divided plates where foods don’t touch.
Offer new dips or sauces with familiar foods — variety increases acceptance over time.
Don’t force it — just model eating it yourself, and stay relaxed. Most kids come around with consistency and no pressure.
This isn't just a quick win on a busy night.
It’s real nourishment that supports your child’s development — from their gut to their brain to their immune system — and it’s disguised as comfort food.
Simple ingredients.
One pan.
No stress.
Serve it warm. Eat it together. Dip it with your fingers.
And enjoy knowing your toddler is not only eating — they’re thriving.
